The VentoFoil
From shortsea to deepsea, built to save fuel
Achieve up to
25% fuel savings
Avoid FuelEU penalties
The Econowind VentoFoil turns wind into additional thrust, helping to reduce main engine power demand and improve vessel efficiency. Depending on the vessel, route and number of units installed, it can deliver significant fuel savings and lower emissions.
Powered by boundary layer suction technology, the VentoFoil combines strong aerodynamic performance with practical onboard use. It gives shipowners a reliable way to cut fuel consumption, strengthen their compliance position and make every voyage more efficient.
Meet the
VentoFoil® series
Proven at sea. Built to last.
With more than 150 VentoFoils sold, Econowind has built a strong track record in wind-assisted ship propulsion. Proven across a wide range of vessel types and shipping segments, the VentoFoil combines robust engineering with minimal moving parts for low maintenance and long-term durability.
Built for reliable performance at sea, the VentoFoil is class-approved by several leading societies and backed by years of operational experience. The result is a trusted wind-assisted propulsion solution for shipowners looking for proven technology that fits real-world operations.
A flexible
solution
Safe and smart
VentoFoil units are controlled from the bridge through a touch-screen display. Once deployed, the system automatically responds to wind conditions and adjusts each unit to optimise performance.
When conditions become unfavourable, the units switch off automatically to support safe operations. They can also be tilted down remotely, helping to reduce air draught and minimise impact on cargo handling. With limited deck space required and little effect on line of sight, VentoFoils are designed to work smoothly on board.
Built for newbuild and retrofit
The Econowind VentoFoil® is designed for both newbuilds and easy retrofit projects. When the foundation and cabling have been prepared to specification, the unit can be installed quayside in just a few days.
It can also be tilted down into a resting position, minimising impact on cargo operations and giving the vessel more flexibility when air draught is limited. This makes the system easier to integrate into daily operations, both at sea and in port.
