As we continue to expand our market presence, we are seeking a dedicated Controller to strengthen our team and help us unlock new opportunities in the maritime sector.
The role
As a Controller, you are responsible for a wide range of financial and business-related activities. You switch effortlessly between financial control, business control, and operational support. You provide valuable input for decision-making, identify opportunities for improvement, and ensure a solid and reliable administrative foundation. In addition, you play an active role in the use and further development of our ERP system Odoo.
Key Accountabilities
- Preparing and analyzing financial reports and management information
- Contributing to the planning and control cycle (budgets, forecasts, quarterly reports)
- Supporting the annual budgeting process and strategic planning
- Identifying and analyzing trends and variances in financial results
- Developing dashboards in Power BI (preferred)
- Processing and verifying periodic depreciations
- Preparing and supporting the annual financial statements and external audits
- Booking invoices and correcting journal entries when needed – you actively support the team
- Actively contributing to the further development and optimal use of Odoo
Skills & Experience
- Completed Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Finance, Business Economics, or Accountancy.
- At least 3 years of experience as (Assistant) Controller or in a similar role.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to prepare and explain financial reports.
- Excellent knowledge of Excel (pivot tables, formulas, data linking).
- Experience with Power BI or willingness to develop this expertise.
- Experience with accounting processes such as depreciations, balance sheet specifications, and reconciliations.
- Experience in supporting external audits and annual financial statements.
- Hands-on mindset: not afraid to book an invoice when needed.
- Experience with, or strong interest in, Odoo, with the ambition to leverage the system to its full potential.
- Fluent in Dutch, with strong business communication skills in English.
- Proactive, independent, eager to learn, and communicative.
